Co-opted Governor (Chair of Governors)

I have lived in the Syston area for many years, and have had 2 children that have attended The Roundhill Academy. I became a parent governor when my first child attended Roundhill In 2004. Prior to this, I have been a governor in many city and county schools. I am still the chair of a city primary school.

I have retired after 30 years as a Science teacher. During my time in the education sector, I have acquired a great deal of experience by attending many courses as a teacher and a governor and worked with many people in all sectors of education. I hope to continue to provide a good service with this wealth of experience to The Roundhill Academy as Chair.

Co-opted Governor

Co-opted Governor (Vice-Chair of Governors)

I have been a member of staff at The Roundhill Academy since November 1979 and a Staff governor for a significant number of those.

I have been part of the many changes to The Roundhill Academy in recent years; the conversion to an academy and more recently the conversion to an 11-16 school.

The school has always striven to give students a good foundation, both educationally and as individuals and I have been pleased (and excited) to be part of the team which has supported this aim.

I am proud of the achievements of the staff and pupils at The Roundhill Academy in education, sport and all of the many activities in which they are involved.  I am keen to continue to contribute to the long-term development of the school where pupils are motivated to achieve to the best of their ability.

I am a firm believer in inclusive comprehensive education and think that a strong school should be at the heart of the local community providing education and development for all.

Co-opted Governor

I am a qualified chartered accountant and have substantial experience in global tax affairs.  I bring strong financial and business experiences to the governing body to support the senior leadership team in making sound financial decisions.

Parent Governor

Paula joined the board of Governors in October 2014 as a Parent Governor, and has worked in recruitment since 2007.  Paula hopes that her experience in recruiting in the education sector and in business and management in general will help her to support The Roundhill Academy to achieve all its aims and vision.

Parent Governor

I am a Teaching Assistant and mum of five from Thurmaston. I’m keen on outdoor pursuits, and enjoy sharing my love of the outdoors.

I want to ensure we meet all of our children's emotional, pastoral and mental health needs.  Happy, healthy young people make the best learners.  I think Roundhill is a great school where children can meet their full potential.

Parent Governor

I joined the Board of Governors in January 2018. I live in Syston and my daughter started at The Roundhill Academy in 2017. I am the Group Finance Director for Poundstretcher Ltd so my strengths are in finance and business. I hope to be able to make a contribution to the success of The Roundhill Academy through my involvement as a Parent Governor.

Parent Governor

I am pleased to have been elected as a Parent Governor in January 2018. In my professional life I work as a Compliance Officer for HMRC.  I have two children, who attend The Roundhill Academy.  In my personal life I have a passion for cooking, not quite to Masterchef standards as yet.  I have a keen interest in the learning, progress and attainment of all pupils and as a parent I am passionate in my desire to help achieve the best possible schooling experience for the children at The Roundhill Academy.
